Verónica was born in 1981 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in Materno Infantil hospital. She had many problems to be born, because she was badly placed in her mother's womb. In the end, whe was born without problems. This is the reason of her name “Verónica”, because it means, in the Classical Greek, “the one who gets the victory”. She grew up in Guanarteme, where she still lives with her parents. Since she was little was very active and loved to dance, in fact, she acts at home for her fathers’s friends. It was what she liked most, dancing and the beach. Her Primary and Secondary Education passed an in state school because her parents thought it was the best for her education. The subjects that caught her attention more than the others, were always related to creativity. She don’t liked History, Literature, Maths or Biologia. She liked Art, Design, Languages, Physical Education, subjets where she could move and develope her interests. He graduated from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in Industrial Design five years ago, in 2006. At this moment, she is looking for a job that allows her to get independence from her parents and able to travel, which is another thing that she likes so much, and continues practicing dance. I hope her name is correct and she gets the victory in all.
His name is Ravin and he’s from Spain. He was born in Gran Canaria. He’s in his early twenties. He’s medium height and slim. He has short and straight black hair and his eyes are brown. He takes after his mother. He has got two brothers and they’re both older than him. He gets on very well with both of them. He also has a niece who is 3 years old. He studied in a private and religious school. His favourite subject was History but he hated Maths. The school discipline’s was very strict but he was a very hard – working pupil so he never had problems. He had loads of friends and he still keeps in touch with some of them. He loves travelling and he has been to Peru, USA, Holland, France and Belgium. He puts some money aside every month so he can visit a new country every year. He’s very good at playing football and tennis. He loves sports and he wants to take up scuba diving and surf. He’s very friendly and he has got lots of friends. He likes going out with them for a drink. He thinks that foreign languages are very important. He speaks French and German very fluently and now he’s learning English. He has been studied it for three years. This is his first year at the EOI and he gets there by car. The trip takes him more than half an hour because he lives in a residential area in the south of the island.
Xin is my classmate. She is twenty-two years old and she`s from China, from a city called Chilín. She is single at the moment she doesn't want to compicate her young life. She lives in Las Palmas with her family in a block of flats near to Mesa y López Avenue. She hasn't any brother or sister but she shares her bedroom with her cousin wich get on very well with her. She hasn't any pets at home but she would like it because she loves dogs. She's studying an upper cycle of Finances in a private school where she has lots of friends. She also study English at the oficial school of languages where I met her. She's been studying English for ten years and now she is in the intermediate level.
Xin is a very kind and charming person. She's generuos, extrovert, funny and a very good actress. She behaves very well with her family and always tries to help every one who be able to need it.
She is good at Chinesse language, moreover, she speaks Korean and she would like to learn Japanesse because she likes languages. She loves fashion. She likes playing paddel with her friends on the weekend and playing to computer's game when she is at home, in her free time.
Xin is a little beat sleepy and usually be late in class every morning.
Karuna’s biography: Karuna is my classmate. I met her last year, when I started the EOI lessons. She was born in Las Palmas. She is 26 years old. She lives in Las Palmas with her parents, her younger brother and her oldest sister. Her brother has 12 years old and he’s at school, and her sister is in her late twenties and works as an engineer. At this moment, she doesn’t have any children, but someday, she would like to have a baby girl. Karuna studied in a State School where she met a lot of friends. She remembered that she hates chemistry and loves learning languages. So in the future, she wants to learn German. She told me that she remember the Primary School with special feeling. She isn’t tall, and she has brown eyes. She has a short black hair. She loves fashion world. And when she has free time she goes shopping with some friends and buys new clothes or shoes. Nowadays she works in the Policlínico, she likes being working there because she gets on well with her colleagues. But she’s looking for a new job. She likes spending her free time, with her boyfriend, Alberto. He was also in EOI with us, but this year he finds a new job and he can’t come with her. What is more, she spends her summer holidays with him in the South. They spend a lovely and relaxing time together. Finally, Karuna is sociable and a talkative person as you can see at lessons!
Monica´s biography: I´m going to talk about Mónica. I meet Mónica since last week only because she´s in muy classroom. Mónica was born in Lugo, Galicia. Obviously Lugo es very different to Las Palmas, but she´s happy here. She´s living in Las Palmas six years ago. She´s married. Mónica met her husband in Milan where both of them studied. Her husband was born in Gran Canaria and when they finished their studies, they came to live here. Nowadays she works as a ocupational risk prevention in. She likes her job but it´s a temporary job. For this reason she would like to find a permanent job. Besides having a good job, is important for her to feel good about yourself, for example doing sports, relaxing, traveling, having a healthy lifestyle and learning newthings such as a languaje. Mónica thinks is wrong with the languaje, therefore she´s studying English at this school. Since she lives in the area of Hospital Negrin, Mónica has to come by car. She takes fifteen minutes to get to school. Mónica wishes to improve her English and be able to speak English in the future. I´m sure that she´ll get it!
Olivia´s biography. Olivia is one of my new classmates. She was born in Saint Tropez, France and she moved to Granada with her family when she was five, so she forgot the few french she learnt. She grew up in Granada where she studied primary and secondary school and some years later she flew to Florence to study art at the " Università degli Studi di Firenze ". When she finished her studies she got a degree in art and afterwards she became to work in many different galleries and museums all around the country. Several years later she decided to move back to Spain changing her live again, but she bet for the Canary Islands this time. Nowadays, Olivia lives with her son, aged 7, in Guanarteme and some of the things she likes to do are going to the beach, meeting friends having a cup of coffee and doing loads of different things with her son. Sometimes, specially during the summer, she´s visited by her brothers and sister and their relatives, for this reason she´s very busy in July and August. Recently, Olivia has discovered a new passion for her, which is playing padel. She became to play it three years ago and since that day she can´t stop to practise it. She has met very good friends this way and she enjoy her free time so much. She usually says : " Is incredible, when I was younger I didn´t play any sports and now I can play for hours and never is enough for me."
Anais is a 17 years old girl who was born in Arucas, a small town in the north of Gran Canaria Island. She has lived there until she was 8, but her parents decided to buy a big flat in the city center, and she lives in La Isleta now.
She has one brother younger than her. His name is Alvaro, and he likes playing football. She enjoys watching her brother when he plays a football match with his team.
Anais has a little dog called ROD. She usually takes her dog for a walk very early every morning, before going to High School. She loves playing with her dog or trhowing the ball away, then ROD runs very fast to find it.
She studies at the High School. She loves computers, but she hates Maths. Anais is learning English for three years. She says: if I passed this course, I´ll learn another languages as French or Italian.
She practices differents sports, but her favourite sport is gymnastics. She usually does gymnastic three times a week. When she finishes her homeworks, she use to go to modelling school because she is very good walking on the catwalk.
She would like to find a good job as a model to get a lot of money. She prefers living alone. She thinks that to be an independent woman is better for this kind of job because models have to travell a lot around the world.
Anais love travelling and visiting different countries and cultures. She spent one month in England with her family last year. There she tried to improve her English. They stayed in a small village called Margate, and Anais took loads of photos with her new camera and she bought a few souvenirs for her best friends.
She doesn´t have much free time. She would like to go out more with her friends in Las Palmas, but she has to study a lot this course. Her main aim this year is to be able to pass all subjects and became in a great fashion model.
I’m going to talk about my classmate Noelia. She is from Valladolid. She was born there, and she lived there until two months ago, then she moved to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and she lives here now, but she misses her city and her family. She is a single woman and lives in the Minilla area with her boyfriend. Her boyfriend is Hugo, who is also our classmate. She has not got children and she does not think to have them in the future. At school she had only studied French, so she decided to learn English. She has been studying English for three years and last Thursday it was her first day at the language school. She is not good with languages but she enrolled in the languages school because she wants to improve her English. She believes it is necessary to learn English for travel and find work. She likes travelling and sports, so she goes to the gym two or three times a week. She likes animals very much, that’s why she has got tree pets: one dog and two cats. She enjoys taking her dogs for a walk. Sometimes she takes a trip to the mountain with her dogs and her boyfriend. I am sure she will adapt to this city soon and will be happy here!!
Ana is a classmate of English Classes. I didn´t heard about her before, so I will try to explain what people told me and what I think she is. I hope she like it. Ana was born in Hospital of Gran Canaria, she has lived here since she was a little. When she grow up she got good marks in the school, also at the university. Nowdays, she has thirty three years old and she lives on her own in a beautiful place call Altavista which you can see good views of the coast. She is very bad at cooking, but she tries to improve. At the present, she is single and she doesn´t have any children. She is learning English in the Official School Of Language which is situated in Guanarteme street in front of Farray´s square. It takes twenty minutes by bus from her house. She is now at second intermediate course, and she is good classmate, hard worker and discipline. About her aims, I have to say that she wants to improve her English speaking and writing, also she wants to learn German. In the free time, she likes going to the beach, practising sports, going to the cinema, and also travelling. Finally, her philosophy is “ It´s better for your life do what you really want to do”
I´m going to talk about Ruth. To start with I´d like to talk about how does she look like. She´s medium hight and she has straight brown hair. She´s 34 years old and she´s optician. Nowadays she´s unemployed because the working situation is difficult. She gets to school on foot, it takes 2 minutes only because she lives near the Languages School. She has one brother and two sisters. Both of them are also unemployed. She´s been studying English since she was at Primary School. In the future she´d like to go to Irland to find a job and live there for a long time. She loves traveling and she´s very bad at cooking. She likes doing sports, such as running, playing tennis or jogging. She loves keeping fit. For this reason she nearly always does exercise and eats healthy food.
Hugo is from the main land, concretely from Burgos. He was born at the hospital of this city and he was living there for a long time where he studied and graduated.
Now he's living, with his family, in Las Palmas , an island of the archipelago Canary, which is located in the Atlantic Ocean next to Western Africa, very far from their homeland . Althought, he has to do a lot of business trips to the main land, he's happy living here.
He's in his early thirties and he's tall and slim. He has very short hair and he has a square honest face and a long borad nose with large black nostrils. It's the face of a good man. At first sight he seems a reliable and self confident person.
He likes traveling a lot and he thinks if you know English these trips and holydays in general will be more interesting.
He practices different sports, such as motorbikes, football and sailing.
Idaira is my classmate. She was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. She always has lived in this city. She is thirty years old. She has one sister who is twenty-six and she works as a shop assistant. She is the oldest. She lives with her and with her old charming dog. She is single and she has a boyfriend. She wants lives with him in a future when she is working in a permanent job. She is versatile, but she has studied aesthetic and facial gym principally. She want go abroad with her boyfriend and so she can open her own business. She thinks in more easy because in Spain is very difficult. She studied English when she was a child in the school. Now she is studying English in a language school in Las Palmas where she has studied during four years. Normally she speaks English in class. She has visited two countries where she had an opportunity of speaking English; those countries are England and Poland. In her free time she likes go to the beach overcoat if the weather is good. She loves dancing. She would learn Italian; she thinks it is a very romantic language.
